Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana

The Challenge:

With the 100thanniversary of the Girl Scouts approaching. The GSGCNWI approached CSG to develop a strategy to build awareness of the organization and celebrate the Centennial.

Action Steps:

CSG recommended a series of activities designed to bring attention to the anniversary including a series of events throughout the Greater Chicago area with a main celebration at the Daley Center in the heart of the City.  CSG reached out to the City of Chicago with proposed ideas, which included hosting a Promise Circle event in Daley Plaza during the lunch hour. CSG partnered with the City’s special events staff to pull off a successful event which included the City issuing a proclamation in honor of the Girl Scouts 100thanniversary.

CSG managed all media outreach for the celebration, including developing all media materials reaching out to all media to encourage coverage.

Results

The Celebration was a huge success and with hundreds of Girl Scouts and alumnae from the Greater Chicago area participating in the event, which included the largest, loudest version of the Girl Scout Promise in the history of Chicago, followed by a sing-along.

CSG secured coverage for the100th anniversary Promise Circles  on Explore Chicago (City’s tourist site) and worked with the City’s staff to ensure the appropriate banners and signage were displayed throughout Daley Plaza.

In addition, CSG pursued and secured widespread media coverage in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun Times, Daily Herald, Southtown, Reuters, AP and all major radio and television stations.
