“We work with CEOs of Fortune 1000 companies, and turned to Candice and Lynda to develop a sophisticated approach that would elevate our brand and appeal to senior executives. They push us to think more strategically about marketing and to elevate and expand our thought leadership, with the goal of driving growth for our firm. They have helped us get out in the market in ways we would not have been able to do on our own.”
— Carolyn Hendrickson, CEO Tandem Group, Inc.

Whether you’re communicating your company’s position on diversity, equity and inclusion, introducing a new vision, or facing an unanticipated workplace crisis, we are with you.

As a leader you are under enormous pressure to make critical decisions, with transparency, efficacy and empathy. Whether you’re communicating your company’s position on diversity, equity and inclusion, introducing a new vision, or facing an unanticipated workplace crisis, we are with you.

CEOs and executives are expected to be approachable and authentic, working with a purpose far beyond themselves or their employees. Effective communication is key to motivating your team, gaining stakeholder trust, and elevating your business performance and reputation. Ineffective communications is a liability, and can be minimized by identifying critical issues early and communicating often to those who are impacted.

Our philosophy: No surprises.

As senior executive advisors with deep industry expertise we work with you in communicating through important times. We are the partner you turn to when you do not have the internal expertise nor the time to develop a strategic plan and messaging. Sometimes you need perspective on communicating through issues; other times you need a strong team to support your positioning. No matter the storyline, we plan ahead so your team is working from the same playbook. Through it all, we recognize that a well-planned, comprehensive communication strategy will alleviate surprises and reduce unintended outcomes.

Best use of your time.

You’re busier now more than ever, and there are no signs of slowing down. Your time is best spent ensuring the sustainability and growth of your organization, and part of that is your reputation as a leader. Our strategies support areas such as workforce transitions, announcing new initiatives or perhaps crafting your story as a new leader.

Our team advises CEOs and their leadership teams on the strategy behind communication, target audiences, effective messaging and channels of communication. We walk through scenarios and advise on the best approaches to ensure your reputation is well-managed. Best of all, your time remains focused on your organization’s well-being and growth, while we work behind the scenes so you feel prepared and confident when communicating with your stakeholders.

Executive Communications vs. Internal Communications

Executive communications is a form of internal communications, but internal communications is not the only part of executive communications.

Internal communications includes company e-newsletters, intranets, HR communications, etc., with employees and its leaders communicating among each other. While we certainly provide internal communications services, our executive strategic communications is a specialized level of expertise honed after years of working with senior executives in times of success, and times of crises.

C-level executives communicate internally and externally on organization-wide news, initiatives, purpose and goals. But we know you are so much more than that. As a senior executive, you are a source of trust and stability for your company. You are a role model, a leader and a brand ambassador for your employees. Building and maintaining a positive, engaging reputation through executive positioning and communications is critical to your company’s sustainability.

Our Approach

What to say

Together we will incorporate key strategies to effectively communicate an announcement or mitigate a situation before it becomes a crisis, so you and your company come out ahead. We will develop compelling messages that have the most impact and influence on target audiences.

How to say it

It’s not just what you say; it’s how you say it.

Words matter but so does tone and delivery. Our message development/spokesperson training sessions are designed to teach trainees the controlling skills necessary to deliver succinct messages and control an interview or conversation. We place an emphasis on the 4Cs of effective message delivery – Clarity, Consistency, Confidence, and Control.

Each participant will be challenged to improve skills and performance through videotaped role-playing and one-on-one coaching and feedback. They will learn techniques to answer difficult questions from audiences. We help you create your story – and the story of your organization - and deliver it authentically to connect you to your audience.

Ensure you are heard

Communication is only effective if your audiences take notice, and take the desired action. We work with you to determine the channels of communication needed to reach your audiences. This may include in-person staff meetings, virtual meetings, email, or humanize leaders through the careful use of social media. Our team will craft the language and create content for your audiences. Together we establish metrics directly tied to your goals, focused on favorable reactions and desired actions.

Our work includes:

  • Determining existing stakeholder awareness and adoption levels

  • Advising on existing messaging and approaches, often in tandem with attorneys if the situation involves a legal matter

  • Developing communication strategies

  • Identifying audiences

  • Conducting message development sessions and spokesperson training

  • Creating new messaging and testing its resonance

  • Developing content
